: Saturday : Journey :

Today, D and I scooped up the boys and took them to Pine Hill Preserve about 25 minutes down the mountain from our home. We were originally going to visit a botanical garden in the Sacramento region, but we decided to save on gas this week. There were a few beautiful flowers scattered throughout our hike, but we were a little disappointed. We thought there would be more botanical extravagence and more natural original trees throughout, but unfortunately the Bureau of Land Management owns these thousands of acres designated as a "preserve," so the quality of the preservation of wildlife has not always been entirely top priority in these regions. But, it was still a lovely warm morning hiking with the kids to the top and discovering new flowers and new smells, watching hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees busily flying about. It truly was a wonderful day... I can't complain. Enjoy the picture gallery of today's journey.
